Winter with frost, road salt and moisture is over, the construction season begins. Now is the best moment to check the radio remote thoroughly before the order book fills up again.

Step one: visual check after winter

Open the battery compartment and check the contacts for white or greenish deposits, as condensation from the cold season leaves its traces exactly there. Check the housing for cracks and the buttons for smooth movement. Note anything unusual for a later diagnosis.

Step two: fresh batteries and function test

Start the season with a fresh set of batteries, which costs little and removes the most common cause of failure from the outset. Then, on the secured vehicle, run through every command once: every button, every direction, from normal working distance.

Step three: range and spare

Test the range outdoors with a clear line of sight. If it seems weaker than usual, that points to the antenna or electronics, and a check before the busy season pays off. Also put a spare set of batteries in the cab, and with several vehicles a paired spare remote is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Why check in spring of all times?

Winter moisture and condensation often show their effects only weeks later, and in the starting construction season a failure hurts most. The check finds problems while there is still time for a repair.

What do I do if the check reveals issues?

With traces of corrosion or weak range despite fresh batteries, send the device in for diagnosis. Through the exchange system you get a tested replacement device within one to three business days if needed.

Does the check belong in the company maintenance plan?

Yes, ideally as a fixed date at the start of the season, together with the vehicle inspection. Ten minutes per device are well invested.
