The joystick is the most heavily used control of the unit. If it fails or only partly responds, the failure pattern usually reveals the cause already.

Reading the failure pattern

If only one direction fails, a single contact in the joystick module is worn while the rest of the device keeps working normally. If the joystick does not respond at all while the buttons work, the module itself or its link to the board is affected.

Mechanics: catching and sticking

A joystick that no longer springs cleanly back to centre is a safety problem, as the control can hold commands you ended long ago. The cause is usually dirt in the mechanism or wear of the return spring, both of which should be fixed professionally.

A lasting fix instead of a stopgap

Sprays and home remedies do not reliably reach the inside of the module. During refurbishment the joystick module is renewed or repaired and the complete device tested, after which the twelve-month warranty on the function applies.

Frequently asked questions

May I keep working with a sticking joystick?

No, a joystick that does not spring back can continue movements uncontrolled. Take the device out of service and use the emergency control per the manual.

Can just the joystick module be replaced?

Yes, the module is a separate component and can be specifically renewed during refurbishment, the rest of the device is preserved.

Why does the joystick wear faster than the buttons?

It is held and moved continuously during every tipping operation, not just pressed briefly. This constant load stresses contacts and mechanics more.
