Leaked batteries are among the most common causes of faults in radio remotes. The escaping liquid is aggressive and eats into contacts and conductor tracks. Acting quickly limits the damage considerably.

Immediate measures after a leak

Remove the batteries promptly and wear gloves while doing so, as the liquid irritates the skin. Dispose of the batteries properly at a retailer. Carefully remove visible, loose crystals in the battery compartment dry with a cloth, without pushing them deeper into the device.

Why water makes everything worse

The residues of the battery liquid dissolve in water and flow with it into areas that have stayed dry so far. Therefore never rinse the device. Standard contact sprays also do not permanently fix advanced crusting.

What can still be saved

If only the contacts are affected, they can be cleaned or renewed during refurbishment. If the electrolyte has reached the board, we check whether a repair remains economical. Through the exchange system you quickly get a tested replacement device in any case, and your old device is offset against the deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept a device with a leaked battery as an old device?

Yes, the condition does not matter for deposit and buy-back. Remove the batteries before shipping and pack the device well.

How do I prevent leaking in the future?

Always change all batteries at the same time, use brand quality and remove the batteries during longer storage. Take empty batteries out immediately.

The device runs again after cleaning, is the matter settled?

Not necessarily. Residues keep working and can cause dropouts later. A check pays off before the device fails at the decisive moment.
