On a building site a radio remote is exposed to rain, splash water and dirt. If moisture gets into the housing, the contacts and board corrode. Here you learn how to spot water damage and what can still be saved.

How to recognise water damage

Typical signs are greenish or white deposits on the battery contacts, fogged areas under the membrane keypad and buttons that only react sporadically. Often the control works again shortly after drying but fails again later. That is a clear sign of starting corrosion on the board.

What to do right away

Take out the batteries and do not switch the device on again. Dry the housing carefully from the outside and store it warm and dry. Avoid a hair dryer or strong heat, as that warps the plastic parts. Visible corrosion should be inspected in any case.

How the repair works

At ControlRepair24 we clean the board and contacts, replace corroded parts and then test all functions. Through our exchange system you order a tested replacement device for 450 euros net right away and send in your damaged old device. That way your vehicle stands still only briefly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I dry a wet ISAR 3 myself and keep using it?

In the short term that often seems to work, but the corrosion keeps progressing and leads to failures later. With visible traces you should have the device checked before it fails during operation.

Is a repair still worthwhile after water damage?

In many cases yes. As long as the housing is not destroyed, the board and contacts can be refurbished. If the damage is too severe, a tested replacement device is the faster solution.

Does the warranty cover water damage?

Damage from external impact such as water or drops is excluded from the warranty. We do carry out the repair against charge, of course.
