No other weather brings as much moisture to the radio remote as autumn: rain from above, wet hands, damp storage spots. With a few habits the device gets through the season dry.
Rain is part of the job, constant wet is not
The ISAR 3 is built for outdoor use and shrugs off a shower. It becomes critical when the device stays wet permanently: in a soaked jacket pocket, on the damp load bed or overnight in an open vehicle. Wipe the device down after wet jobs and store it dry.
Condensation from temperature changes
If the cold device goes straight into the warm cab, humidity condenses inside, a little more every day. Therefore let the remote acclimatise slowly and check the battery compartment for deposits more often in the wet season.
Take the first signs of corrosion seriously
Fogged areas under the keypad membrane, deposits on the contacts or sporadic dropouts after rainy days are early warnings. Corrosion keeps working silently even while the device still functions. An early check is far cheaper than a total failure in the middle of winter service.
Frequently asked questions
Is the ISAR 3 waterproof?
It is prepared for splash water in everyday work, but it is not a diving device. Constant wet and standing water do not belong on the remote.
The device got really wet but still works, what now?
Remove the batteries, dry the outside and store the device dry for a while. Then watch it closely and have it checked if dropouts or visible deposits appear.
Does a protective pouch or cover help?
A pouch or holder protects against constant rain and drops, as long as usability and the view of the vehicle do not suffer. Dry storage after the shift remains the key.
